INVEST PENANG
InvestPenang is an entity of the State Government. Its primary
focus is to sustain, rejuvenate and further promote the business
milieu in the State of Penang, through continued investments and
the high-technological development of its industrial sector.
InvestPenang is a not-for-profit entity. It has only one path to
follow – the path to success.
Established on the 5th of November, 2004, InvestPenang is a
non-profit entity of the State Government with the sole purpose
of promoting investments within Penang. InvestPenang aims to
sustain, rejuvenate and further promote business activity
through continued investments and at the same time explore new
growth areas which are profitable.
InvestPenang is staffed with experienced and capable talent who
facilitates investment with unparalleled dedication. In essence,
InvestPenang performs the following functions to ensure

MIRC (MCA ICT Resource
Center)
The MCA
ICT Resource Centre (a.k.a. MIRC) was formed on January 1, 2005
with a mission to drive innovation and deliver business values
to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) by optimizing Information
and Communication Technologies (ICT) usage to achieve
innovation, transformation and growth.
Since its inception, MIRC has grown to become an organization
undertaking a nation building initiative, critical to the
development of national economy. MIRC provides FREE ICT advisory
and support services to SMEs. It further supports and assists in
the development of the ICT industry by developing young upcoming
Technopreneurs to become competitive players in the ICT market.
MIRC is playing an important role for SME and Technopreneur
development. MIRC operates a one-stop SME and ICT Service Centre
where it will assist both SMEs and Technopreneurs in various
areas, such as access to financing, ICT adoption, market access,
training, etc.
Through its MSC Status Incubator, MIRC sets up Incubation
Centres in Wisma MCA, KL and Suntech @ Penang Cybercity to
develop and nurture young upcoming Technopreneurs. MIRC
Incubator is one of the Malaysia’s leading Centre of
Entrepreneurship and Early-Stage Growth Companies. These
Incubators help entrepreneurs to reduce their costs, accelerate
their business formations and escalate their commercialization
processes by providing an extensive network for market access,
facilities, and mentorship for commercialization breakthrough
and business expansion.
In year 2008, MIRC launched its SME Development Blueprint to
develop and sustain a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation
within the SME sector. The Blueprint outlines MIRC’s commitments
to assist and ensure that Malaysian SMEs become and remain
learning, dynamic and outward looking; to enable them to
overcome global challenges, improve competitiveness and move up
the value chain. The MIRC SME Development Blueprint will focuses
on 7 Strategic Thrusts – Infrastructure, Driving Innovation,
Capacity and Capability Development, e-Enablement, Market
Access, Access to Financing and Promotion of New Growth Sectors.

SCoPe
The Software Consortium of Penang or in short, Penang as an initiative of Penang State Government to promote
and encourage higher value-added activities in Penang.
SCoPe is an alliance of Penang-based software companies with diverse product and service portfolios. SCoPe is also affiliated with key institutions of the Penang State Government, such as the Penang Development Corporation (PDC), Penang Skills
Development Centre (PSDC), Collaborative Research & Resource
Centre (CRRC) and Socio-economic & Environmental Research
Institute (SERI).
Mission:
To nurture and strengthen globally competitive companies among
its members of Software Consortium of Penang.
Objectives:
• Establishing a comprehensive roadmap for the development of
local software industry through identification of new
technologies, new
markets and growth areas/clusters;
• Promoting locally-developed software within Malaysia and
eventually regionally and globally;
• Ensuring and nurturing development of quality software; and
• Strengthening networking and collaboration at local, regional
and global level.

turnover of more.

MSC Malaysia Capability Development Programme (CDP) is an MDeC’s initiative designed to help Malaysian ICT organisations and the individuals that work for them to raise their internal capabilities and maximise their potential by adopting global best practices, process improvements and professional certifications.
CDP’s aim is to enable Malaysian companies to focus on their core competencies and to hone their competitive edge. Toward achieving this, CDP organises monthly dialogues, seminars, workshops and clinics, and provides financial incentives that are collectively designed to assist Malaysian ICT companies in achieving global standards certifications that will help to ensure their future business success.
CDP introduces a systematic approach in the delivery of products and services and prepares companies into the next phase of growth.
